Firmenbeschreibung
1977 wurde die im 17. Jahrhundert gegründete Hütte zur Sekundärbleihütte umgerüstet und von 1984 bis 1993 vollständig modernisiert. Die seitdem eingesetzte Engitec-Technologie wurde von der EU in den BREF-Dokumenten und der amerikanischen Umweltschutzbehörde EPA als bestes verfügbares Verfahren ausgezeichnet.
1990 erfolgte die Inbetriebnahme der PP- Compoundieranlage. Zur Zeit verarbeiten 80 Mitarbeiter bei BSB bis zu 80.000 Tonnen Blei- Säure- Akkumulatoren aus dem Fahrzeug- und Industriesektor, blei- und zinnhaltige Abfälle sowie Sekundärrohstoffe wie Altblei und bleihaltige Rückstände zu Blei- und Blei-Zinn-Legierungen.
Das im Aufbereitungsprozess gewonnene Polypropylen wird zu PP-Compounds der Marke Seculene® PP veredelt – ein Material, das insbesondere die internationale Automobilindustrie zur Herstellung von Kunststoffaußenverkleidungen ihrer neuen Modellreihen stark nachfragt. Mit einer jährlichen Produktionsmenge von 40.000 Tonnen Blei und Blei-Zinn-Legierungen sowie 35.000 Tonnen Seculene® PP stellt die BSB ihre Leistungsfähigkeit im Schließen von Wertstoffkreisläufen eindrucksvoll unter Beweis.

The BSB Recycling GmbH (BSB), Braubach, is one of the most modern secondary lead smelters in Germany, and is also a European market leader in the production of high-grade polypropylene compounds derived from secondary materials. The smelter, founded in the 17th century, was converted to a secondary lead smelter in 1977, and then completely modernized between 1984 and 1993. The Engitec process introduced at this time was acclaimed by both the EU in its BREF documents and the American Environment Protection Agency, EPA, as representing the best available technology.
The PP compounding plant was inaugurated in 1990. Currently, 80 employees at BSB recycle around 80, 000 tonnes of lead-acid accumulators from the automotive and industrial sectors, along with lead and tin containing wastes, and other secondary raw materials like lead scrap and lead-containing residues, to lead and lead-tin alloys.
Polypropylene, obtained as a by-product of the pretreatment process, is refined to PP compounds with the trade name Seculene® PP - a material much in demand by the international automotive industry for manufacturing external plastic linings for their newer car models. With an annual production of 40, 000 tonnes of lead and lead-tin alloys, along with 35, 000 tonnes Seculene® PP, BSB very impressively proves its efficiency in recycling used material.
